'On the Road in Iraq With Our Troops and Gary Sinise'

I really like Gary(Lt. Dan). We have watched Forrest Gump at least 10 times, especially my Dad. I just wish more Hollywood types were like him instead knocking our Military. These guys are my heros, and I will do anything I can to support them even at my age. My brothers wifes brother is in Iraq now. I saw the Fox special tonight about Gary's 5000 handshades tour, and it was great.

Sat., January 10 at 9 p.m. and midnight ET
In this exclusive FOX News documentary, actor and activist Gary Sinise shares the "on the road" experiences he had last summer in Iraq while visiting American troops.
Some 25 hours of his adventure was captured verite style with a handheld camera. Sinise does his best to meet his goal of what he says is "5000 handshakes, 2000 miles in seven days."
The personal footage captures heartfelt meetings between Sinise and the troops in Kuwait and the Iraqi cities of Al Qaim, Al Asad, Ramadi and Baghdad. And Sinise shares his tour of some of Saddam's palaces where so many thousands of Iraqi citizens were murdered by the dictator.
The events of 9/11 inspired Sinise to do more to support our troops. For his 10th trip to this area since 2003 with the help of the USO, Sinise embraces the "Lt. Dan" persona made famous in his 1994 Best Supporting Oscar nominated role in "Forrest Gump."
Sinise says, "Even though I am on a top franchise on 'CSI New York,' there's no getting around that 'Forrest Gump' was a movie that was and still is embraced by millions and millions of people. Within the military community, they like that character so much, that wherever I started to go for the USO and to other military events, people would call me 'Lt. Dan.'"

My New Puppy, and Our Christmas in Louisiana

I got a new puppy named Jack (my dad, Old Soldier) wanted to name him Barack but I wouldn't let him) last sunday. He's about 8 weeks and is a toy poodle. He weighs 2 lbs and will be at the most 5 lbs. My brother gave him to us because they couldnt handle 2 dogs and 2 babies. My mom adores him and my dad absolutely loves him(which im very surprised). Hes getting pretty good about not going to the bathroom on the floor, but sometimes he has accidents. He's very playful and smart. We have to be careful not to step on him because he is so small.
We went to my grandma's house in Louisiana for Christmas. I got to see all my cousins that I haven't seen in about a year which was fun. It was just my mom, dad, and me at my grandma's on Christmas. My brother couldn't make it because he worked. It was alot of fun.
These pics are of my Dad and Jack, my cousins and me, and just little ole me and Jack

It Is So Cold Today

I don't like this weather at all. It was 83 on Saturday and it is 42 now. I am freezing and it is to cold to go out. I may sound like a baby, but we are not use to this kind of weather change in such a short time.. Oh well. School starts back tomorrow, and I can't say I am looking forward to it either. We have been out for Christmas vacation for the past two weeks, and I was getting kind of use to sleeping in, but now I will have to start getting up at six am. Oh and thank you to all of you who have been visiting my new blog.

It's Summertime In Houston

This is crazy weather we are having. It was 83 degrees yesterday which tied a record for this date. I like it. My Dad had a BBQ yesterday, which he loves to do. We had chicken and sausage, potato salid and baked beens. Ummm. My friend spent the night with me last night, we just listened to music and watched TV half the night. I have to go to work at one today for about an our at my Dad's office. I have to pay for my car you know. I hope to be working at Gold's Gym very soon. I am also going to start working at my sister in law's shop which sells high end baby clothes next Saturday. I stay busy. Anyhow hope all out there are having a great New Year.

John Travolta's 16-Year Old Son Dies

This is so sad.

Jett Travolta, the 16-year-old son of actors John Travolta and Kelly Preston, died in the Bahamas on Friday, according to a statement released by Bahamas police.
Jett suffered a seizure at his family's vacation home at the Old Bahama Bay Hotel on Grand Bahama Island during a family vacation, police said.
He was discovered unconscious in the bathroom around 10 a.m. by caretaker Jeff Michael Kathrain, according to police Chief Superintendent Basil Rahming.

An Associated Press report says Jett hit his head when he fell in the bathtub. He was pronounced dead at Rand Memorial Hospital, police said, and Rahming said an autopsy is being scheduled.
The family had arrived in the Bahamas on Dec. 30, according to police.
In a 2003 interview on the Montel Williams show, Preston said Jett suffered from Kawasaki Syndrome. "It causes swelling in the organs, so your heart can swell, different important organs can swell," she said. "We thought at one point we were going to lose him."

Travolta and Preston also have an eight-year-old daughter, Ella.

New Years Eve Party

We are going to a party tonight. Oh, it's just two houses up from us, but it should be fun. I think this next year will be a strange one. New President (hummm), messed up government, wars all around, economy looking pretty sad. Well let us hope that it gets better, however I am not to optomistic. My main hope is for the safety of our military personnel who are still in harms way. I wish a Happy New Year to you all.

Remembering Ike

We are still doing cleanup around our house after Ike came through. It was a bad time for everyone who lives in my area. We didn't have any electricity for 11 days, and that was not nice. But we did find that we could hang in there though. At least we had hot water, which a lot of people did not. My Dad did a BBQ just about every day, and that was OK. It was nice to see how everyone in Houston helped out. We ran out of food and found out that one of the churches were giving out food, ice and water, so we went and they were so nice. They gave us three bags of ice a case of water and lots of food. I think we will be better prepared next year.
